The Cedar Community Learning Center (Cedar CLC) is a 21st Century Community Learning Center (21stCCLC), sponsored by the West After School of Lancaster,  Ohio, an independent community-based non profit organization working in close partnership with Lancaster City Schools administrators,  teachers, parents, and community stakeholders to provide a high quality before and afterschool experience for students of Cedar Heights Elementary School. Center. The primary focus of the program is to provide extended academic learning opportunities for selected students. 

 

The program goals are to provide:

  1. academic remediation to improve students' reading and math skills

  2. academic enrichment learning programs

  3. mentoring for selected students

  4. recreational activities and fitness education

  5. nutrition education

  6. homework assistance (not necessarily full completion)

  7. services that provide parental involvement and family literacy

  8. drug and violence prevention and mental health counseling that lead to success social development

  9. expanded library and computer lab hours with access to books

  10. expanded arts and music experiences

 

The Cedar CLC is licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and 21st Century Community Learning Center program compliance is monitored by the Ohio Department of Education and the West After School Center.
