As we are in the winter season, trips to the pharmacy may become more frequent than they were before. There is a program being offered by the FamilyWize community partnership to help families without any prescription drug coverage with the rising costs of prescription drugs.

The prescription drug card is easy to use—simply present the card and prescription to a participating pharmacy to obtain the discounted price. You will always receive the lower of the discounted price or the pharmacy’s retail price. The card can save you and your family an aver

age of 20% on 8 out of 10 prescriptions.

The prescription card can be used as often as you need, for any prescription, and for all family members. There is NO income limit, age requirement, eligibility, or registration required.

As we return from our Christmas Break, we would like to inform our parents about the exciting things happening here at the Cedar Community Learning Center.

The first new item is this weekly letter that will be sent out on the first day of each week. This parent letter is to open communication between CCLC and you, the parents/ guardians of our students. It is important for us to keep you informed about what is going on here at CCLC. This letter will also keep you up-to date on the student’s progress, YMCA swimming trips, parties, guest speakers, and any other events that

may occur. We are hoping that this letter will eliminate any confusion that may have occurred during the first part of the year and keep you informed about our activities on a weekly basis.

In addition to our weekly letter, we are excited to announce the introduction of a new rotation into our scheduled activities. Beginning Monday, January 14, 2008, the students will be utilizing the computer lab on a daily basis. The older students will be working on the Study Island program. The younger students will be working on keyboarding skills as well as using the computers to type their spelling words and

use those words in a sentence.

Finally, parent conferences with the CCLC staff begin Monday January 14th. A sign-up form will be sent home this week so that we can try to schedule a time to discuss your child’s progress. Meetings will be held in person and via telephone. It is very important to us that we have this time to discuss your child’s progress, and this time also gives you as parents/guardians time to share your thoughts and concerns with us.
